Career Opportunities:

Downie and Selkirk hire on an as-needed basis to fill positions on the spare board for both companies. Spare board employees do not work full time, but fill vacancies due to sickness or other reason such as holiday relief for full time employees. Spare board employees earn competitive wages and health benefits once they have worked the required hours and completed the probationary period.

1. At Downie and Selkirk, we hire for both entry level positions and skilled and ticketed tradesmen in the millwrighting, welding, filing and electrical fields, when needed.

2. We have an extensive training program to ensure that everyone has all the safety knowledge that they require in order to do their jobs without injury. Our training program also ensures that employees learn jobs in a progressive manner, helping them become good lumbermen and machine operators.
We have a program of training persons in trades, as required through the BC Apprenticeship program.

3. Work Applications can be filled out at the main office -1621 Mill Street in Revelstoke. Our company is located near the hockey arena and City of Revelstoke maintenance shop. Work applications should be detailed and contain as many references as possible, as we will be concerned with where you worked in the past and need details regarding your safety and attendance records. In order to be considered, all applications must be delivered to this office.

4. Downie and Selkirk offers a complete health and dental package that also covers eyeglasses and extended health benefits.
