Forest Stewardship Plans

Forest Stewardship Plans (FSP) will indicate areas where harvesting, road building and other activities may occur within our operating area. FSP’s will contain desired results and strategies consistent with objectives set by government in managing the required resource values.

DRAFT 2006-2011 FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS

Notice is hereby given that Downie Street Sawmills Ltd. (Downie) and Wood River Forest Inc. (WRFI) have prepared draft Forest Stewardship Plans (FSP) for Forest Licence A31102(Revelstoke Timber Supply Area) and Forest Licence A17644 (Golden Timber Supply Area) respectively, which are located within the Columbia Forest District. These FSPs are now available for public review.

In accordance with the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) these FSPs do not identify specific proposed roads and cutblocks but instead show larger geographic areas named Forest Development Units in which harvesting, road construction and other forest activities may occur within the 5 year period. Forest activities conducted within these units must be consistent with the results and strategies proposed and be consistent with government objectives for various forest resource values.

Both FSPs are publicly available for review and comment on the links provided below or they can be viewed at the Downie office located at 1621 Mill Street, Revelstoke, BC; from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, Monday to Friday (excluding stat holidays) from May 24 to July 24, 2006 for the Downie FSP and May 31 to July 31, 2006 for the WRFI FSP. If an interested party is unable to review the Plan(s) during these times please contact us at the address below for alternate arrangements.

In order to be considered, comments or concerns must be made in writing and either mailed, hand delivered, faxed or e-mailed (dofferman@downietimber.com) by July 24, 2006 for the Downie FSP and by July 31, 2006 for the WRFI FSP.
