Initiative (SFI®). As verified by independent third party auditors QMI.
May 24,2006: Downie’s draft Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) complete with maps is now available for public review and comment. Wood River Forest Inc. FSP will be available on-line by May 31, 2006. Downie’s caribou retention area mapping project has been completed. The most important caribou habitat (‘no harvest areas’) as identified by knowledgeable biologists has been spatially mapped within Downie Timber’s operating area. As a result, Downie Timber is now spatially managing for caribou habitat in addition to biodiversity values throughout our operating area and has incorporated this into our Forest Stewardship Plans. The 2006 “Population Censuses of Caribou in the North Columbia Mountains" and other new informative publications have been added. January 27,2005: The Revelstoke Caribou Recovery Committee (RCRC), which Downie is a member of, has established a new website.
